Basketball players

For the past week we have been doing the summer learning journey. This is my first blog post for this week and after this one I would of reached 40 points which is the goal for the class. For this blog post I had to choose either Lebron James or Steven Adams to ask five questions too. Here are my five questions I would ask him in an interview. I hope you enjoy!

The invention

This week we have been doing the summer learning journey. This is my 4th post for today. This post was about someone that has had an impact on my life and netball has.

James Naismith invented netball. Netball is my favourite sport. James Naismith was an immagrint in the USA and was forced to invent an indoor game for young boys. They have had a big impact on my life because netball is an awesome sport and lots of young people play it. What Did James Naismith Invent? Which Sport |

10 foods to bring on a boat

This week we have been doing the summer learning journey. This is my third post for today. This post I had to write about 10 foods I would bring on a boat and why. I hope you enjoy it!

Three things that are precious to me

This week we have been doing the summer learning journey. This is my second blog post for today. For this blog post I had to write three things that are special to me. I hope you enjoy it.

1. My gonnie. My gonnie is a special blanket that I have. It got the name gonnie because my Mums brother called it that and that name has just carried on until now.

2. Time capsule. My bestfriend and I buried a time capsule when we were 10. We are now 13 and are going to dig it up when we are 15. Then we will put something else in it and bury it again.

3.  My sisters letters. On my 13th birthday my sister gave me a bunch of letters she has written throughout her life and they are pretty special to me.

Braveness

This week we have been doing a summer learning journey. I posted 4 posts yesterday and this is my first post yet today. For this post I had to write about a time when I was brave. I hope you enjoy it.

My name change

Today we are doing the summer learning journey. This is my 4th blog post. This one I will be saying if I had to change my name what I would change it to and why.

I would change my name to Annie because that is my grandma's name. I think it a really cool name and I might name one of my kids it.

The rescue helicopter

Today we have been doing the summer learning journey. For this activity I chose the charity one so I picked the charity air rescue.

Air rescue is a really good charity. If people are in a life or death situation the rescue helicopter can quickly get there to save someone's life. This charity saves so many people's lives that are in really tough situations. This charity has to raise $6,000,000 a year. That's a lot of money to make a year so please donate now. I will put the link to the website below where you can donate a bit of money. Because you can make a difference today. Only a little bit of money can make a difference.

The twisted tree

For the past little while I have been reading a book in homeroom for silent reading called the twisted tree. The book is a pretty good book. It is about a girl who has one eye blind find out she can touch people's clothing and read there feelings. She then goes on holiday to her grandma Mormor's house. It turns out Mormor is dead and there is another random boy living there called Stig. She than has to water a tree and if she doesn't water something bad will happen. She doesn't water it and then she starts to see ghosts with her blind eye. I think it is a good book and I would rate it a 7/10.

Today in class we had to make a different book cover for the book we are reading so here is mine. I hope you enjoy it.

My pepeha

Today in class we made our pepeha. This is mine. You should try it out as it helps you learn your pepeha.

My Worm Farm!

This week in homeroom we read a story about worm farms. It was a awesome story and it taught me a bit about worm farms. Worm farms are a really good thing to have. It means your scrap waste doesn't go to a landfill and let methane gas into the air. Landfills also get really stinky. Worm farms are a really efficient thing to have and give great fertiliser. They are also really easy to contain and don't take much energy to make.

This is an efficient worm farm I made.

This is how to make a worm farm.

Global Warming!!!

This week we read a article about Global Warming. It taught us what global warming is and what is happening to the planet from it. I think that we need to try our best to save the world because it sounds very bad and if we don't act soon, the world will have some massive issues. Do you think global warming is a bad thing? You can tell me your opinion in the comments. The heat is getting trapped by the carbon dioxide, not letting it travel into space and  disappear. This is good for letting plants and animals flourish at the right temperature. Although, as we burn more fossil fuels, more carbon dioxide goes into the air, trapping more heat. That means the land and sea heats up. Messing up the balance of nature and changing the world’s climate.

Insects-future food

This week in class we read a story for reading about bugs and how they are nutritious and it might be a future food. It turns out if you got one kilo of bugs and one kilo of cow or sheep or another meat you eat quite often, there will be more meat in the bug bucket than the other meat bucket. They also take up much less room then stock animals so it will also be better for the enviroment because it will be a reason they have to stop cutting down trees and save the wildlife animals and nature. I hope you like this blog post and you can give me your opinion if you would eat bugs.

How eyes work!

Today I will be explaining how your eye works. Light rays enter the eye through the cornea, the clear front "window" of the eye. The cornea's refractive power bends the light rays in such a way that they pass freely through the pupil the opening in the center of the iris through which light enters the eye.

The iris works like a shutter in a camera. It has the ability to enlarge and shrink, depending on how much light is entering the eye. After passing through the iris, the light rays pass through the eye’s natural crystalline lens. This clear, flexible structure works like the lens in a camera, shortening and lengthening its width in order to focus light rays properly.

New Zealand in the 1970's!!!

For the past week in class we have made afew slides about life in the 1970's in New Zealand. I worked in a group with Olivia and Jordan so you can go see there blog once you have finished looking at mine. It was a very fun thing to work on and it taught me a bit about the 1970's in New Zealand beacause I didn't know much about it.

My Weather Device!

Today in class we made our own weather device. What we had to do was choose between rain, wind, lightning or thunder. I chose thunder and lightning since they usually happen at the same time so it could all be just one big machine that when they see one or another letting there drums play or letting there lightning bolts they have stored up the other one joins in with them.

Our fun adventures on scratch!

Today we got challenged to make a scratch comic, using coding. What we had to do was pick a
superhero and make a story about it doing certain things. Our superhero was a guide dog for blind
people. We had to make the guide dog do certain things. Some of the things were a starter project in
which we got the dog to guide a lady across a road. The next activity was show off with a super spin.
What you had to do for that one was the dog had to do a spin in the road. The next one was it had to fly
over buildings, but our dog couldn’t fly over buildings so we just made it cross a road again because it
was a guide dog and doesn’t fly over buildings. Nextly was you had to add background music. Then you
had to support your hero. By doing that you would just add in another character. There was also
keeping the score by creating a game by programming your hero to collect objects. The last one
is draw your own hero, and what you had to do was use the paint editor in scratch and make your
own hero. Scratch was a really fun activity and maybe one day you could try it for yourself.

Rainfall 2

These are 8 activities I had to do for the book we read rainfall. I hope you like them or even learn a bit about West Port (where the story is based).

Ink tracking tunnels!

The other day we made Ink Tracking Tunnels and put them in the Horticulture Block. How you make them: Step 1 you get all your equipment. Which includes 2 milk bottles, red food colouring, a sponge, a craft knife, black plastic, cardboard and paper. Step 2: Cut off the top and bottom of the milk bottles. Step 3: In one of the bottoms of the milk bottles put the sponge in it and cut it so it fits. Step 4: Tape the 2 middle parts of the milk bottle together. Step 4: Wrap it in black plastic. Step 5: Cut the cardboard so it fits into the trap. Step 6: Cut the paper in half and put it on top of the cardboard in the trap. Step 7: Tip food colouring all over your sponge so it is saturated in it and take a decent scoop of peanut butter and plop it in the middle of the sponge.  Step 8: Put the sponge in the middle of the trap and find a good spot to hide it. Lastly you wait and hope something will walk through it. The point of these are that if something walks through it you can see its footprint and study it. This was a very fun activity.

The Asian Elephant!

Today in class we had to pick an endangered animal and write about it. I picked the asian elephant. A reason for that is because I love elephants and I think they have to be recongised as endangered animals.

My Paragraph!

Fighting for my life, I had just entered a war zone. Although, it wasn't like any normal war, it was a troll war. Straight away, I ran for the exit. But a troll spotted me. I guess I wasn't as sneaky as I thought. The troll picked me up by my foot and started swinging me round. All I  could see was the troll's ghastly face. I was terrified. The troll then dropped me because he saw someone else who looked like they needed more beating up. Desperately, I scrambled up and escaped the war zone. Finally, I was free from everything.

1.  Training to be an olympian,  Miya was always worn out.
2. Cycling to my friends, I almost fell off.
3.  Shouting all day long, I lost my voice.
4. Feeling happy, I started singing a song.
5. Laughing at my brother, he threw some mud at me.
6. Shoving my sister into the wall, she picked me up and put me upside down in the rubbish bin.
7. Pulling my Mum's hair, she tells me to stop.
8. Farting in my brothers face, he got angry at me.
9. Tearing up some paper, my Mum said it was a waste.
10. Eating lots of food, I was chocka blocked.

For this lesson we were learning about -ing start sentences. One of the activities we had to do was come up with ten -ing start sentences. These are my ten.  Thinking about them, it took a while. I hope you like them.

Lollipop Lane!

This is my theme park ride. The activity was to make your own ride or map of a theme park, since disney land is closed and lots of other cool places like that. For my ride you go around a track that takes you through a lollipop infested cave. If you are lucky at the end it rains lollipops and if you grab one you can eat it. I hope you like my ride and maybe you could make one so I can see what your theme park would have.

This is Manakau hotel and railway station in the olden days. Then the next image is Manakau Hotel now. The activity we had to do was get an image from somewhere around us and then get one from the olden days of the same place. In the image previously there was stock yards, and in the new image there is Manakau hotel. I hope you enjoyed seeing the difference between them and maybe you could do one of where you live. The Martins, Manakau, and the road that changed their lives ...

My first week!

This week we have returned back to school after lock down, so I will be telling you about my week and how I felt about it. The first thing was I really struggled getting up in the morning and having to get ready for school in the cold. It was way to early. Another thing that I struggled with was just going to school after being able to stay home all day.
This school week has felt like it's been really slow, but I was happy to see my friends. I would rather be at home but now that school is back into my daily routine, I guess I will just have to get use to the times and not always being at home.

My extremely cute zoo!

My class had to make online zoos. This is my zoo, I hope you enjoy looking at my zoo.

What I would do if I shrunk!

This would be me if I shrunk over night and now was mini. I hope you like my slides.
Now I will be answering some of the questions that it wants me to answer.
1. Would you rather be the oldest or youngest child in a family of ten: I would rather be the youngest, because I have grown up being the youngest and I don't know how I could cope being the oldest.
2. Would you rather see things close up like a microscope or things far away like binoculars:I would rather see things far away because I don't want to see all the creepy things up close.
3.Would you rather be able to shrink down into a ant anytime you want, or grow into a 2 storey high giant whenever you want: I would rather shrink into an ant, because it means I can escape places easily.

My Adverb Start Sentences!

Quickly, Emma studied for her exam because she hadn't done any other studying.

Everywhere, josh the dog followed Millie.

Lazily, I got out of bed and got ready for school.

Cheerfully, I bounced around on the bouncy castle.

Strangely, a man stared at me and then I poked my tongue out at him.

Interestingly, I studied the bug through the microscope.

Recklessly, I through around everything in my room because I was mad.

Afterwards, we went and got sushi.

Loyally, me and my best friend never left each others side.

Gracefully, I walked down the catwalk.

The activity we had to do for this was 10 adverb start sentences. We got a sheet of paper with lots of adverbs on it and that gave us an idea of some adverbs we can do at the start. Today we have started learning adverb start sentences. I hope you enjoy my sentences.

The Window Looking Into my Isolation!

This is my lock down if you are looking through a window at it. There are a few things that I left out but this is lots of it.  A few things on it is my pets, baking and I spent lots of time with my family. I loved lock down and I didn't want it to ever end. I hope you like my post and maybe you could do a window looking into your isolation so I can see what you did.

What has helped you through Isolation?

This is what has helped me get through Isolation. What we had to do was make a google drawing on all the things that has helped us through isolation. I think that all of these things are awesome and this activity was really fun!

My Super-Power!

This is what would be my super power. It says "I would be able to clean and re style things just by pointing my finger and saying Walla, then whatever I am thinking of would happen.".What we were asked to do was make our own comic and pick a super power. My may sound a bit boring but I think it would be quite handy.

The adventures we go on, when you are not watching!

These are all the adventures that some of my pets went on. Luckily they did not die even though it may look like some of them were pretty close to dying. Some of them are a bit hard to see so you might have to look at it for a while to find out the shape of them and where they are on the picture. Hope you like it as I had fun making them.

What things can you make if you are given only two googly eyes!

These are all of the things I stuck eyes to. My family thought they were funny. They are all still placed in the same spots and I wonder when my family will ever take them down. They were very fun to make and I accidentally cut myself when I was making them. If you haven't done the Eye-Bombing Challenge maybe you should give it a go and see if it makes the people in your bubble smile.
